Ravenscroft takes Championship lead at first round of BNL

This weekend Clayton Ravenscroft returned to one of his favourite venues Karting Genk, in Belgium, for the first round of the BNL Rotax Karting Series.

After a tough couple of heats, the KR Sport driver qualified 2nd for Saturdays final. Knocked back on the first corner, he managed to claw back to 2nd by the finishing line.

A bumper penalty in one of the heats on Sunday saw him qualify back in 6th place.

Managing to claim 3rd after the opening laps, he set off after the leaders. Ravenscroft eventually passed Turner and took the lead with 4 minutes remaining. He managed to hold on, taking the win from Charlie Turner and fast starting Rhys Hunter.

After the race, Ravenscroft dedicated the result to the Rotax side of his team KR Sport, saying “The kart set up was perfect.”

Points have now been recalculated to confirm that Ravenscroft took the overall win for the weekend and now leads the championship heading into round 2 in July.
